That Friday feeling.......

We all look forward to the weekend, don't we? Or do we?.
Friday seems so far away on a Monday, midweek drags on then Thursday is here and then ...At last it's Friday!
Maybe a lie in tomorrow then a nice day out, perhaps a walk or when the spring comes we will go off camping, but here lies the rub, you've been busy all week and now you have a million and one things to do, all tonight, if your weekend plans are to come to fruition.
Packing, cleaning and checking equipment if you're off somewhere,  the car needs loading and preparing, what about the pets, are they coming with us or do we need to arrange a 'pet sitter'? Where is the fishing equipment? torches? batteries are flat so a mad dash to get some, flit around the shops getting provisions, you will forget something and have to go back, I guarantee it!

Saturday comes and the pace lets off a little, of course there will be mishaps but we'll deal with that.
Then evening falls and you are already mentally preparing for Sunday, the big take down, just like Friday night but in reverse, is looming!

Sunday morning, try and relax the pace, have some breakfast, breathe a little, but you can't help mentally placing things where they need to go, piecing together the jigsaw scattered before your minds eye.
The evening entails another rush of activity of preparation for the week ahead, you finally collapse in your bed, alarm set for a stupidly early time, your exhausted and are soon asleep, (hopefully).

Monday morning, you've been cheated! It can't be 6am already I just shut my eyes, damn you Monday morning!
Ah well, soon be Friday....Can't wait!

This Friday is a special Friday, My beautiful Daughter, Libby, is 12 years old! :D
Where does the time go, maybe we should stop wishing it away?

Happy Birthday Princess! x

A little walk..

Today, I learned to do a screenshot,  come on, I'm sure I'm not the only one who didn't know how , thanks to my 10 year old, I now have this magical skill at my fingertips.
What has this got to do with the title? Well I wanted to put a map of our little walk we went on today, so here goes!

Well hopefully you can see an edited screenshot of LLyn Padarn ,LLanberis.
The place we went to visit was the Anglesey barracks at Dinorwig quarry. With me was my girlfriend, her foster child, my daughter Libby (aged 12) and son Oliver (aged 10).
We drove through the small village of Deiniolen and left the car at the place marked 'A'. The whole route is marked in red and the blue spots indicate our direction.
The first part of the trek is a small access road to some cottages which then turns into a twisty footpath through a forest of young sessile oaks, this will bring you to the Anglesey Barracks. which I have marked with a red circle. (if you can't see it look at the gap in the bold red line).
After a few minutes of exploring the old buildings. (the previous occupants had carved their names and dates that they lived and worked there). we crossed the old rail track and followed the trail down, taking in the fantastic views, to the main road and entrance to The slate museum.
The museum was closed so we continued up to the old hospital and then took the Vivian trail back up to our car. This was by far the hardest part of the trek, steep, twisty and slippery in places but the fantastic scenery and curious old buildings along the way made it so worthwhile, I'm not sure how far or how long it took us, we were enjoying it too much.

Things to remember.....
Take a camera, drinking water and wear good, stout footwear.
We did the same walk last year, I've posted photo's from then, it was a lot drier last time, although today was bright and sunny if not cold at 2.5c, it has been raining heavily the last couple of weeks and was very slippery!

Can you see the 'Lady of Snowdonia' on the hill behind Oliver?

I know I shouldn't but......

I don't like laughing at other peoples misfortune, crikey, I have enough bad stuff myself without the need to induce any bad karma, but as long as no one is hurt I suppose it's ok to do a little inward HAH HAH!
Like a lot of people in the world I find driving quite frustrating, not the journey but the folk that seem to be out to annoy you and mess up your simple plan to get from A to B without any hassle or hindrance, of course I know they don't mean to half the time and no one has the perfect, smooth path in life, but this is something that I will be blogging about a lot, sometimes it's funny sometimes not, but I'm sure some will relate.

I normally walk my youngest to school, it's a walk just shy of a mile, on this day, however, I had to  pick my Mother up from the other side of town and get her to the train station, and the timing meant it would be easier to take the car on this occasion.
I live right next to the high school where four of my kids attend, as I was passing this school I had just driven over the pedestrian crossing when at the end of the railings A crowd of young girls decided they would shave 0.6 seconds of their walk to school and cross the road, all looking at their mobile phones, probably texting each other rather than talk and look where they were going, so naturally I slowed down.
I'm sure you've had this scenario where a group of teenagers think they can stroll out right in front of you, expecting your car to stop dead. The girls looked up when they heard my squeaky brakes and stopped half way across, so I carried on driving only for half of them to continue walking at the point where I was almost on them!
I wouldn't have stopped in time to avoid at least clipping them so swerved around them then realising I would hit the other half of them swerved back and then stopped, I didn't bother remonstrating with them, they wouldn't care what I had to say anyway and where probably updating their status to 'LOL just nearly got run over! If I had of hit one of them the Ally McBeale part of my brain would have picked up the casualty's phone and entered into their status. 'Just been killed and I don't have clean pants on FML'

So... what's funny you may be wondering?
Well this morning I was walking past the school and recognised some of the girls walking towards me on the opposite pavement, all of them ardently studying their phones as usual, and they all stepped in this huge trail of dog poo. (This is something else I'll be blogging about).
Someone must have been walking at least four dogs there was loads of it, they didn't just get a bit on the soles, you could see it curling up the sides on one girls shoe!
Being a gentleman I kept a straight face and walked on, watching them in the corner of my eye doing the slide thing yet apart from the odd look in disgust at the mess they had stood in carried on staring into their iphones.
As I walked past them a smirk invaded my face as i thought of their update.... 'Stood in dog poo lol best white pumps too!

You have to start somewhere...

I've never done a blog before, I thought about it then couldn't be arsed, facebook is ok but I don't feel I can post what I'm really thinking and to be honest I'm bored with the 'Can't sleep', 'had enough now!' and other obscure attention seeking status updates.
Facebook for me is about keeping in touch with friends and family, posting pics for people you don't see very often,  and having a giggle, which it does very well.

So why a blog?
Well you've come here to read what I've put, be it funny, miserable, interesting or boring, outrageous, shocking or disgusting, you logged on so know what to expect and I can't be accused of clogging up your timeline with crap youtube clips, pics and status updates you don't or didn't want to see.

What is this blog about?
I'll be putting stuff on here that annoys me, interest me, my way of looking at things which can be funny, surreal or depressing or maybe I'll just stick a poem or youtube clip on.
In a nutshell this is a blog for me more than the reader, a place I can lay my thoughts out, get it off my chest and look back on and reflect.
What could possibly go wrong?
